Trigger Configuration
There are two types of trigger configuration that suit the two most common trigger types, Variable Reluctance (VR)
and Hall Effect. VEMS has two triggers, primary and secondary and the most common configuration is to have VR
as the primary trigger and Hall as the secondary. The image below shows the locations of the components used to
configure the various trigger options.
Primary Trigger - Variabale Reluctance (VR)
Connect sensor+ to JP7 (For these two, a BNC connector mounted to the endplate can be used)
Connect sensor- to JP8
Ensure D14 is in place on the bottom of the board, if it is not make sure it's soldered in the correct direction
note the picture above bottom side
Leave SJ2 open
Bridge SJ6
Primary Trigger - Hall Effect
Connect sensor to EC36-pin27
Connect Jumpers JP2 & JP7 see below

Solder R30 10K Pullup resistor.
Ensure D14 zener diode is correctly soldered onto the bottom of the board.
Remove R56 10K resistor.
Make sure SJ2 is connected.
Make sure SJ6 is not connected.
Secondary Trigger - Variable Reluctance (VR)
Alas I don't need this so it will be documented only when I need it! ;)
Secondary Trigger - Hall Effect
Connect sensor to EC36-pin13
Connect jumpers JP5&JP7
Solder R48 10K pull up resistor
Ensure D27 zener diode is correctly soldered onto the bottom of the board
Remove R90 10K resistor.
Make sure SJ5 is connected.
Make sure SJ7 is not connected.
