Uploading the Engine Management software.

The compiled firmware is available from:
http://www.vems-group.org/files/Firmware/release/
Download the file with the latest date, and then unzip it to a suitable directory.
Open a command prompt and change directory to the location that firmware was unzipped to. In the root of
the firmware directory you should see the file vems.hex this is the binary image of the firmware that we
are going to upload

Now we can upload the firmware, to do this we use a perl program written by Michael Kristensen & Marcell Gal called prog.pl
running prog is as simple as the command:
perl bin/prog.pl vems.hex :COMn Etwf - replace n with the number of the serial port that you've
connected VEMS to.
The program spits out lots of messages while it is running, when the program completes you will the success message.

A common problem that happens at this point is that the program fails to start, if this happens check that you have
used the right COM port, and that no other programs that use the serial port (like Bray Terminal) are running.

Testing the firmware

Using Bray Terminal again, click Connect and power-up the board. In the Send window type Manmll

And you should see the following text in the Receive window:
